GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

Gov

Sir,

21028

HONGKONG. 17th. June, 1913.

In continuation of my Despatch Confidential of

the 23rd. ultimo, I have the honour to transmit to you the enclosed copias of 2 Lemoranda addressed by His Majesty's Consul-General at Canton to the Authorities there on the subject of the export of limestone together with copy of a telegram which Mr. Jamieson has sent to His Lajesty's chargé d'Affaires at Peking.

2.

The situation, which is unchanged since my last report is becoming very serious on account of the delay in settle- -ment and I venture to submit that it is very desirable that the action of the Canton Authorities, which while it is successful uust

have a demoralising effect upon them and upon the Chinese popula- -tion, should be stopped.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,

Amaz

Governor,&c..

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

LEWIS HARCOURT. L.P.
